GeoServer Training

This hands-on training course is designed to help you get started with GeoServer, delegates will learn how to load, publish, and share geospatial data. The course includes topics covering the GeoServer user interface, map styling with SLD, connecting to WMS and WFS services and tile caching with GeoWebCache. The course is aimed at those who are interested in web mapping, and while no formal pre-requisites are required, familiarity with basic GIS concepts is preferred.

OpenLayers Training

This one day course will introduce attendees to OpenLayers. Delegates will learn how to create a map using style declarations and map initialization code. The course will enable delegates to understand working with layers, including layer parameters, layer projection and caching tiles. In addition, the course will provide an extensive understanding of mapping controls, including pan and zoom, scale bars and selection tools.

It includes the following sessions:

  • Introduction to open source, standards and data
  • Creating a map - library loading, markup and style declarations
  • Working with Layers - WMS, layer parameters and projection and caching tiles
  • Map controls - including pan and zoom, layer switcher and scale bar

PostGIS Training

This hands-on training course is designed to help you get started with PostGIS, covering the installation, configuration, management and use of a spatial database. Delegates will learn how to create spatial databases, load data from a number of different sources, perform queries and connect via common GIS tools. The course is aimed at those who are interested in learning more about spatial databases. While no formal pre-requisites are required, familiarity with basic GIS concepts is preferred.
