OS Boundary-Line - AdminMap

AdminMap

AdminMap is an administrative boundary product based on part of the Ordnance Survey Boundary-Line dataset. The information is made up of digital vector data and consists of wards or communities and equivalent electoral divisions, plus local authority and county boundaries, in the form of polygon regions. AdminMap can be used to identify which administrative boundaries contain particular places, and vice versa. The Census agency code for each ward and local authority can be looked up. Thematic maps can be created in a GIS by joining data from the Census or similar sources.

  • Size of each administrative area unit given in hectares
  • Wards, district and borough boundaries nested within counties
  • District and county layers, each containing unitary authorities
  • A workspace (for use in MapInfo Professional GIS) or project file (for use in ESRI ArcView/GIS) opens all the layers and sets zoom layer thresholds that determine when the layers are visible
  • The location of boundaries is accurate to within 3m. This is within one pixel on screen at scales of up to 1:10,000
  • The British National Grid co-ordinate system is used

OS Boundary-Line - BoundaryMap

BoundaryMap

BoundaryMap is a free parliamentary constituencies boundary product derived from the wards in the OS OpenData Boundary-Line and Land and Property Services Medium-Scale Vector data set. The information is made up of digital vector data, in the form of polygon regions, and consists of the UK boundaries defined by the Initial Proposals published between 13 September 2011 and 11 January 2012 as required by the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011.

Application:

  • Participation in the Boundary Commission consultation process;
  • Visualisation against existing constituencies and local government boundaries;
  • Modelling safe and marginal seats based on past polling and demographics;
  • Analysis of the changes necessary to achieve electorates with 5% of the quota.

Features:

  • Identify which proposed constituencies contain particular places, and vice versa;
  • Join data from the Census or similar sources, shading a thematic map;
  • Total size of each constituency given in square kilometres;
  • Compare with the existing constituency boundaries from MemberMap;

MagnaMap

MagnaMap is a specific boundary product based on the full Ordnance Survey Boundary-Line dataset. The information is made up of digital vector data and consists of parishes and wards or communities, plus all higher-order administrative and constituency boundaries, in the form of polygon regions.

  • Development and land use planning
  • Identify which administrative boundaries contain particular places, and vice versa. Look up the Census agency code for each ward and local authority. Join data from the Census or similar sources, shading a thematic map.

MemberMap

MemberMap is a specific boundary product based on part of the Ordnance Survey Boundary-Line dataset. The information is made up of digital vector data and consists of parliamentary and European constituency boundaries, in the form of polygon regions

  • Identify which constituency boundaries contain particular places, and vice versa. Look up the names of MPs representing those constituencies. Shade a thematic map of parties, turnout or election majorities of MPs. Plan and monitor the effectiveness of canvassing and lobbying campaigns.

  • Data included for Parliamentary constituencies: constituency, name of MP, party, total vote, % of vote, % majority, % turnout, votes for each party
  • For European constituencies, the name may be cross-referenced to a separate table containing the names of MEPs and their parties

OS Code-Point - MarkerMap

MarkerMap-Open

MarkerMap is a specific postcode point product based on the full Ordnance Survey Code-Point dataset. The information is made up of digital vector data and consists of separate points (MarkerMap Points) for over 1.7 million unit postcodes (e.g. SW1A 0AA) in the United Kingdom (UK). The optional polygon regions (MarkerMap Regions) are the result of tessellating these points. Higher-order boundaries (Area, District and Sector level) are aggregated using the postal hierarchy. An economical planning or marketing tool for users not requiring individual addresses. Find or geocode addresses using full postcode (average 17 households or 2.6 organisations)
