Introduction

IQGeo’s award-winning geospatial network management software is used by a whole range of telecommunication, fiber, and utility operators to model and manage their physical network assets. Whether in the office or in the field, IQGeo’s AI-powered software is helping fiber operators deliver digital equity and empowering utilities to achieve a cleaner energy future.

Challenge

IQGeo’s software processes large volumes of complex network data from multiple clients. The quality, structure, and completeness of this data varies, from well-organised outputs from legacy systems to inconsistent or incomplete CAD files.

This variability leads to a complex series of semi-manual processes required to prepare data for ingestion into IQGeo’s systems. Translating asset data sets could take months, relying on custom scripts that are difficult to maintain or reuse. As a result, projects have to include long on-boarding periods and high development costs.

Solution

IQGeo asked Miso to replace their custom code with a sophisticated FME workspace. This turned vulnerable, one-off scripts into configurable, production-ready data transformation workflows.

Miso began by interviewing IQGeo’s technical team to understand their most common data transformation challenges and recurring patterns. This discovery phase identified the core processes that consumed the most time and resources, revealing opportunities to standardise workflows without losing the flexibility needed to handle diverse client data.

Miso built a production-ready FME workspace that IQGeo’s onboarding team could use immediately or readily customise. This workspace handles the full pipeline: ingesting diverse data formats, applying complex transformations, and outputting to a standard format ready for IQGeo’s solution.

Miso then trained key staff members to use and adapt the workspace, transferring capability directly to IQGeo’s team. This meant IQGeo could handle new data sets independently, modifying workflows as needed without waiting for external development support. IQGeo are now using this knowledge to create their own data validation workflows in FME and assessing the benefits of AI schema mapping.

Benefits

By introducing FME into their production pipeline, IQGeo has transformed their operational model. This…

  • Saves weeks of work: Project timelines are shorter, predictable and more reliable.
  • Standardises processes: Reusable, configurable workflows ensure consistent quality across all data sets while still being able to adapt to each client’s unique format and requirements.
  • Lowers costs: The need for bespoke scripts for each project has been eliminated, freeing technical resources for higher-value work.

What was once a bottleneck is now a competitive advantage, enabling IQGeo to scale confidently, take on more clients, and deliver faster time-to-value.
