5 new FME 2025.1 features we think are brilliant
FME 2025.1 has landed, and as usual, it’s packed with updates. We’ve had a look through the release notes and picked out the five features we think are brilliant.
1. FME Realize
Safe Software’s new Augmented Reality app lets you see and interact with live data overlaid in the real world through an OS device. It runs on workspaces you’ve already built in FME Form and published to FME Flow.
FME Realize is included as part of FME Flow, so organisations can deploy unlimited AR capabilities without paying for device licences or for a new platform.
2. FME Data Virtualization
This lets you build secure REST APIs on top of any data source FME supports – no coding required. This means you can connect to data stored across different systems and deliver it to users in real time, without needing to move or copy it.
The real value is in control, as each user can access just the slice of data that’s relevant to them, rather than exposing full datasets to everyone.

3. AI Assist
This offers context-aware suggestions while you build workflows. The AI pulls from help docs, community posts, and Knowledge Base articles. It won’t write full workspaces for you but might save a bit of time digging through documentation. We’ll be testing it out to see how useful it is in practice.

4. Automatic HTTPS Setup
Getting HTTPS set up in Flow can be fiddly. This release adds a guided setup to simplify the process – either during install or using PowerShell.
Not flashy, but very helpful. This will cut down configuration time and reduce the risk of something being missed.

5. ExcelConditionalFormatter
This new transformer lets you apply conditional formatting to Excel files as part of your workflow, so you can highlight values or rows without doing anything manually after export.
Could be handy for reports where you want key figures to stand out at a glance.

Let us know if you’ve tried any of these already or if there’s something else in 2025.1 you think we should be looking at.
